Serology and NAT B-PTS studies

As a minimum, the panel should include:

  • positive and negative samples to assess the reliability of the data produced by the laboratory, the specificity of the testing strategy as performed by the laboratory and, where appropriate, the breadth of detection of the different genotypes;
  • core-positive samples to assess the reliability of the data produced by the laboratory and the sensitivity of the testing strategy as performed by the laboratory;
  • non-core positive samples for educational purposes and to assess the sensitivity of the testing strategy as performed by the laboratory.

Immuno-haematology B-PTS studies

As a minimum, the panel should include:

  • whole blood samples for ABO grouping and Rhesus, Kell and extended phenotyping,
  • plasma samples for irregular antibodies screening and/or identification.
