At its June 2009 session, the European Pharmacopoeia Commission decided to apply IUPAC and WHO INN rules. Therefore, the spelling ‘sulfate’ has been used instead of ‘sulphate’ since 2010, starting with the 7th Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia.

This change was made for consistency purposes only and has no impact on the level of quality required for active substances or excipients to be used in medicinal products.
