The electronic online version can only be used online ( via the website) or via an application installed to a computer and/or a USB stick.Ph. Eur. Online (website). Starting with the 11th Edition of the Ph. Eur., it is no longer possible to install the application on a computer or USB device.

Technical requirements:

  • Computer with access to the Internetinternet;
  • Supports all current operating systems (Windows, MacOSmacOS, Linux);
  • Runs on recent versions of all modern browsers including Chrome, Edge and Firefox. Limited functionality with Internet Explorer;
  • Runs on tablets and smartphones;
  • Acrobat Reader for viewing PDF documents.

Ph. Eur. Application (installed to computer and/or USB stick)

  • Operating systems:
    • Windows 7 or later (64-bit only): local administrator rights not required for a per-user installation; local administrator rights required for installation on a shared computer with several user accounts
    • Linux

Note: the application is not currently designed to be installed on a server or virtual machine, and we cannot guarantee we will be able to provide you with technical support in case of issues.

  • The application uses an inbuilt Chromium browser.
  • If installed on a USB stick you will need:
    • A USB stick (no other portable memory solution will work)
    • Capacity: 8 GB (this will hold 3 versions; only one stick per subscription is allowed)
    • Chip: SLC chip or high-speed MLC chip
    • USB 3.0 or USB 2.0
    • Sequential read speed: 25 MB/s minimum
    • Sequential write speed: 10 MB/s minimum
    • 4K random read speed: 1 MB/s minimum
    • 4K random write speed: 0.5 MB/s minimum
    • Format: FAT32 with 16K cluster size
