At its June 2009 session, the European Pharmacopoeia Commission decided to apply IUPAC and WHO INN rules. Therefore, the spelling “sulfate” instead of “sulphate” ‘sulfate’ has been used instead of ‘sulphate’ since 2010, starting with the the 7th edition Edition of the European Pharmacopoeia.
