This revised general chapter applies to all individual monographs as of 1 January 2023.

As mentioned in the General Notices, ‘General chapters become mandatory when referred to in a monograph, unless the wording clearly indicates that it is not the intention to make the text referred to mandatory but rather to cite it for information.’

Ce chapitre général révisé s’applique à toutes les monographies spécifiques à partir du 1er janvier 2023.

Comme indiqué dans les Prescriptions générales, « les chapitres généraux deviennent d’application obligatoire dès lors qu’ils sont cités en référence dans une monographie, sauf si le libellé utilisé indique clairement que l’intention est de citer le texte à titre indicatif ».

Le fait qu’un chapitre général de la Ph. Eur. (par exemple, 2.2.46) soit cité dans un autre chapitre général de la Ph. Eur. (par exemple, The fact that a Ph. Eur. general chapter (e.g. 2.2.46) is referred to in another Ph. Eur. general chapter (e.g. 2.2.29. Liquid chromatography), does not render it mandatory as such, unless the other general chapter  Chromatographie liquide) ne le rend pas obligatoire en soi, sauf si cet autre chapitre général (2.2.29 in our example) is referred to in a given Ph. Eur. monograph, dans notre exemple) figure dans une monographie donnée de la Ph. Eur.
