Since 1 January 2007, the Council of Europe’s work in the area of blood transfusion has been the responsibility of the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM). Le Comité directeur sur la transfusion sanguine (CD-P-TS) continues the work of the former Council of Europe Committee of Experts in “Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology” a repris les travaux de l’ancien Comité d’Experts du Conseil de l’Europe sur la transfusion sanguine et l’immunohématologie (SP-HM). The secretariat was handed over to the Department of Biological Standardisation, OMCL Network and HealthCare (DBO) within the EDQM.
In transferring the activities, special consideration was given to continuing the promotion, implementation and follow-up of ethical issues and high quality and safety standards for professional practices in this field. Lors du transfert de ces activités, une attention toute particulière a été accordée à la poursuite de la promotion, de la mise en œuvre et du suivi des questions éthiques et de normes élevées en matière de qualité et de sécurité pour les pratiques professionnelles dans le domaine, ainsi qu’à l’organisation du système de transfusion sanguine de manière à protéger donneurs et patients.
