If you have difficulty obtaining a reagent from your regular supplier, carry out a web search to find an alternative. The best search term is the Chemical Abstracts Service Registry Number (CAS Number). These are given in the reagent description in Ph. Eur. general chapter 4.1.1. Searches can also be made using the reagent name and any synonyms.

In principle, the EDQM cannot recommend commercial reagents or provide information on potential suppliers. However, in certain cases, information on reagents that have been used successfully is given in the ‘Practical Information’ section in the Knowledge Database (e.g. LC column brand names).
